lego street photography made in 3d
This is our latest Just4Fun rendering. Its created in Cinema4d and rendered with Vray.
We were scanning a whole lot of street textures for quite a while. This got really time consuming and tedious - so we needed some fun stuff. Inspired by street photography and the old fashion way of black & white illustration ..
The textures of the street elements are scan based. We used a Nikon 750d and Agisoft to create the scans. For every scan we used an average of 150 photos. We baked the maps for height, normal and AO. Some of the maps we made tillable in Photohop before we could start with the fun part of the project in C4D.
We modeled some low poly assets and unwrapped the UV´s. To hide the seams on the curbs we switched to 3d Coat and stamped it out. To cut real holes into the manhole cover we simply applied the water level in the Vray displacement material. The Mograph Cloner was used to spread the leaves along the curbs. The sign texture is based on download from cg.textures. Some adjustments were done in Photoshop and some maps for bump and glossiness were generated. To place the Stormtroopers correctly on the deformed mesh we temporary applied a displace deformer.
For the lighting we used a simple PhySky setup and the PhyCam. After 10 min render time we jumped back Photoshop and made some basic color grading.
Enjoy!
